WV National Guard Tuition Assistance
Funded by the West Virginia National Guard, the WV Educational Encouragement Program (WVEEP) is an education benefit that provides up to $10,000 (as prescribed by The Adjutant General) per Service Member per fiscal year. State tuition assistance may be used in addition to federal tuition assistance, the G.I. Bill®, and Pell Grants. This benefit is available to active drilling members (not AGR).
The tuition assistance provided only covers tuition costs. All fees are to be paid by the servicemember and our office advises that servicemembers establish a payment plan through WVU's Student Accounts to cover any balance owed that is not covered by tuition assistance, and to avoid any late fees and/or being removed from their classes.
Per WV National Guard policy, WV Army National Guard soldiers are required to use federal tuition assistance alongside WV National Guard tuition assistance.
Please note: all servicemembers using Tuition Assistance (TA) through their branch must speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their unit prior to enrolling in classes.
For questions regarding TA at WVU please contact Mindy McCracken, School Certifying Official, at veterans@mail.wvu.edu or at 304-293-8825.
