State Tuition Assistance

WV National Guard Tuition Assistance

Funded by the West Virginia National Guard, the West Virginia Educational Encouragement Program (WVEEP) provides up to $10,000 per Service Member per fiscal year, as determined by The Adjutant General. This state tuition assistance can be used in conjunction with federal tuition assistance, the G.I. Bill®, and Pell Grants. The benefit is available exclusively to active drilling members and is not applicable to AGR (Active Guard Reserve) personnel.

Tuition assistance covers tuition costs only; all fees are the responsibility of the Service Member. We strongly recommend that Service Members set up a payment plan through WVU’s Student Accounts to cover any remaining balance not covered by tuition assistance. This will help prevent late fees and ensure continued enrollment in classes.

In accordance with West Virginia National Guard policy, WV Army National Guard Soldiers are required to utilize Federal Tuition Assistance in conjunction with State Tuition Assistance provided by the WV National Guard.

Please note: All Service Members using Tuition Assistance (TA) through their branch must consult with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or unit counselor before enrolling in classes.

For questions regarding State Tuition Assistance (STA), please contact the WVEEP office at ng.wv.wvarng.list.education-office-wv@army.mil or (304) 561-6361.
