Alex Jarvis - students P to Z


Alex is a native of Summersville, West Virginia and a 2017 and 2019 graduate of West Virginia University. Alex enlisted in the West Virginia Air National Guard while in his senior of high school and served seven years. During his stint in the WVANG, Alex served in the Communications Flight as a Cyber Surety Journeymen and served in Headquarters WVANG as the Communications Specialist. 

Alex has worked at WVU in some capacity since 2016. He started working for WVU as a student worker in the Admissions Office working New Student Orientation and Admissions events. He then served as the Admissions Graduate Assistant for one-year prior to taking his first full-time job at WVU as the Online Student Success Advisor for the Reed College of Media Online Graduate Programs. He now begins his role, returning to the military and veteran community, serving as a Certifying Official for the WVU Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs. In this role, he assists with and certifies VA Educational Benefits for student veterans, current servicemembers and dependents. 

Alex’s educational background includes: Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science in Journalism – Strategic Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration.

In Alex’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Carly, and their golden retriever, Cash, watching football, baseball, or NASCAR, playing video games, and enjoying all WVU sports.
